Quick guide to Measuring up

Here is our quick guide to measuring your garden to give you the required number of square metres for you to place your order with us.

Basic Area - rectangle or square

Multiply the width by the height.
e.g. 6.5m x 3m = 19.5sq m

Circles

Measure from the centre to the edge to get the 'radius'. Using this measurement, we can work out the area using the following method:

radius x radius x 3.14= area

so in our example:
4m x 4m x 3.14 = 50.24 sq m

L-Shaped areas

L-shaped areas can be worked out using our basic area calculation. Split up the L-shape into two areas and work them out separately.
Area A = 3m x 3m = 9sq m

Area B = 6.5m x 3m = 19.5sq m

Now simply add the two together to get the total area. 9+19.5=28.5sq m
